This short course provides structured development for those involved directly or indirectly in personal tutoring.  It will provide participants with a theoretical and a practical understanding of key principles, issues, and debates relating to personal tutoring.  It combines an examination of research and literature with an exploration of practice drawn from the participants’ current experience.

This short course addresses the issues explored through the lens of compassionate and relational pedagogies, and the related concepts of academic kindness and the emotional implications of learning and teaching.  It therefore offers participants opportunities to reflect on these approaches and their own personal and professional values in the context of personal tutoring.

Successful completion of the course will result in participants being awarded professional recognition at the Recognised Affiliate Advisor (RAA) level, and will allow access to a streamlined professional recognition application process (Recognised Practitioner in Advising; RPA).
