Swansea is a unique, historic, European city within Wales. Wales is a country within the United Kingdom with a population of around 3 million. With a total area of 20,500km2, over 2,700km of coastline and mountainous terrain, Wales has a reputation for adventure and tourism. Swansea is Wales’s waterfront city and is set on the five mile sweep of Swansea Bay in the heart of south Wales. Swansea was granted city status by Royal Charter in 1969 and has a population of approximately 230,000.

It is a changing city, founded on a strong industrial heritage at the very centre of the Industrial Revolution, which has evolved into a contemporary and vibrant waterside destination, offering diverse cultural and entertainment opportunities and set in some of the most captivating coastline and countryside in the UK.

Swansea is very much a 21st century city with attractions, waterside activities, sport facilities and entertainment, on the edge of the UK’s first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – the Gower Peninsula. Perhaps, it is because of these idyllic surroundings that Swansea people have developed a strong reputation for warmth and friendliness, which is well deserved. Swansea City Centre is easy to get around with all major attractions within walking distance of each other – such as the National Waterfront Museum, Wales’s newest museum and Swansea Museum, the oldest!

The conference will be hosted in the School of Management building on the Swansea University Bay Campus. Opened in 2015, this campus has a beachfront site overlooking the beautiful Swansea Bay, next to Crymlyn Burrows, a site of Special Scientific Interest.
