Workshops
This year, in response to delegate feedback, we have introduced several extended workshops to our conference programme to support professional learning, collaboration, and the exchange of effective practice. These will take place on the afternoon of Monday 5th April and are included in the delegate fee.
All delegates will be invited to select and pre-register for one of the following workshops. Workshop selection is made when you register as a delegate. We anticipate that additional workshops will be added to this list over the coming weeks. Please check this page again before registering for full details of the available workshops.
Setting boundaries in Personal Tutoring and Academic Advising
In this interactive workshop, using LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® , delegates will explore the importance of setting and maintaining healthy boundaries—both for themselves and for the students they support. This is a workshop from the ever-popular UKAT Professional Development Curriculum, and therefore attendees will be issued a digital badge upon completion.
Start time: 1pm Monday, 5 April
Duration: 3 hours
Professional Recognition Writing Retreat
This workshop is open to delegates who are already registered on the UKAT Professional Recognition Scheme and is designed to help applicants make meaningful progress. Combining top tips and guidance, opportunities for Q&A, focused writing time, and small-group mentoring, the workshop will help participants develop and strengthen their applications.
Start time: 1:30 pm Monday, 5 April
Duration: 2.5 hours
Writing for Waypoint
Want to disseminate your work beyond the conference? Then this is the workshop for you!
Whether you’re at the early ideation stage or have a fully formed project ready to share, this is a working session designed to help you make visible progress on your article. Through guided activities and peer discussion, you’ll develop your ideas in real time — refining your message, clarifying why it matters to Waypoint’s readership, and exploring the most suitable article formats. There will be opportunity to receive feedback on your developing piece, helping you build momentum and move your work confidently toward publication.
Start time: 2pm Monday, 5 April
Duration: 2 hours
Sponsor Workshop: When Capable Students Still Struggle: Using Behavioural Self-Awareness in Academic Tutoring
Building on concepts introduced in our popular October 2026 Webinar, conference sponsor MindPilot Ltd will introduce delegates to how behavioural self-awareness can provide a useful starting point for academic tutoring conversations. Drawing on research on executive function, self-regulated learning, cognitive load, flow, and chronobiology, the workshop will consider how students can be helped to reflect on three practical questions: how they organise their work, how they manage workload and momentum, and how they protect focus and use their energy effectively. Delegates will be introduced to a practical tool, the StudySMART Profile, which can aid structured behavioural reflection.
Start time: 2pm Monday, 5 April
Duration: 2 hours
Please note: All workshops are subject to maximum numbers, and delegates can register on a first-come, first-served basis. Some workshops may be subject to minimum numbers. If a workshop is deemed not viable one month before the conference, delegates registered for that workshop will be offered an alternative workshop.
