Session Outline

This session introduces a dynamic initiative to establish and sustain a Community of Practice (CoP) for Advisors of

Studies (AoS) at Queen’s University Belfast. The CoP

blends formal training, informal interactions, and innovative engagement methods, including monthly online events

and the Advisor Exchange podcast. Launched in 2023, this initiative has fostered collaboration, enhanced

professional development, highlighted the importance of CoPs to personal tutoring outcomes and improved student outcomes. Participants will explore strategies for building CoPs,

integrate innovative tools into CPD initiatives, and leave with actionable insights to create scalable support

networks in their own institutions for any staff member in an Advisor of Studies/Academic Advisor/Senior Tutor/Personal Tutor role.
